FoodBank Cape Town has recently launched an exciting, new Corporate Team Building Programme at its warehouse in Philippi, Cape Town. The programme offers companies an opportunity to build team interaction skills while at the same time making a difference to communities in need.
The programme has been built around the everyday functions that make the FoodBank work, and team members will receive hands-on experience of what it is like to help feed the hungry. The programme starts with an introductory talk on what the FoodBank does and how it operates. This will be followed by active involvement in the FoodBank production line by having teams make sandwiches for beneficiary organisations, or defacing and relabelling products for further distribution. The team building event will take approximately 3 hours, and the FoodBank will provide snacks and beverages for all the participants as part of the cost.
The programme will initially be piloted in Cape Town, but will be rolled out nationally to other FoodBanks over the coming months. Being a non-profit organisation, the FoodBank relies heavily on volunteers in order to function efficiently and effectively on a day-to-day basis. This initiative will supply much needed volunteers to the FoodBank Network, and create more awareness on the plight of the hungry of South Africa.
