Information & Communications Technology Manager
FoodBank South Africa (FoodBank) is a dynamic not for profit company working to alleviate hunger by creating a national network of food banks. FoodBank is an independently managed private sector collaboration of hunger relief NGOs, food companies, religious organisations and the government. FoodBank already operates or supports food banks in 7 cities and aims to open at least two more within the next two months.
FoodBank South Africa requires a full-time Information & Communications Technology Manager to join our management team in Cape Town to steer our national data management processes.
Key Responsibilities:
● Strategy: Analyse FoodBank’s existing and future business/functional/ operational requirements and develop a cohesive ICT strategy.
● Financial Planning: Develop, in conjunction with the Senior Management Team, ICT budgets, and implement them.
● Reduce use of - and dependence on - desktop (client) applications.
● Ensure an efficient and secure environment to support staff productivity and communication
● Manage network administration, including but not limited to;
○ ADSL Connections, WAN, LANs
○ Windows Server 2008R2
○ SQL Server 2005
○ >60 laptops & desktops across the country
○ Remote Access Management & Remote Administration
○ Data Security & Backups
○ Web Filtering
○ Asset Audits & Registry Management
○ Telephony & Mobile Technology
● Manage solutions for ;
○ Email, Calendar, Contacts & Tasks [Google Apps, MS Outlook-deprecated]
○ Document & data management, collaboration & sharing [Google Apps, MS Office]
○ VOIP [Skype]
○ Payroll [Pastel]
○ Financial Accounting [Pastel]
○ Warehouse Management & Stock Control [Pastel]
○ Fleet management and Tracking [CTrack]
○ Management Reporting [Pastel]
○ Mass Email Marketing: newsletter subscription/publication [iContact]
○ On-line Donation Processing & Management [various, e.g. GivenGain]
○ Community engagement [various, e.g. Facebook]
Each of these needs is currently being addressed by one or more inherited solutions [denoted in brackets] but in some cases their suitability needs to be re-assessed.
● Identify, Implement & Manage solutions for ;
○ Purchase & Sales Order Processing
○ Contact Relationship Management (CRM)
○ Agency Management
● Website: Manage the established Joomla! infrastructure & content database for our website (ie foodbank.org.za); related social media tools; integrated donation processing and mass marketing solutions; and extend functionality as required.
● Policy: Manage & Implement internal ICT policies and standards.
● Training: Arrange technical training and support for staff.
● Spending: Hardware & software acquisition. Negotiation & management of maintenance & licensing contracts. Management of ICT product and service supplier relationships.
Job Competencies (Qualifications & Experience):
● Minimum 5 years post qualification experience.
● Experience with and understanding of the following topics is required: Database management; Networking; Security issues; Backup/Failover strategies; Collaboration tools, Cloud computing.
● A strong interest in keeping abreast of best practise in open standard, free and cost effective ICT solutions is a definite advantage.
● Experience with and understanding of website development and/or supply chain logistics is considered an advantage;
● Experience with and understanding of the non-profit sector is considered an advantage;
● A relevant degree would be an advantage but is not a requirement.
