A capable team is working feverishly to enable FoodBank Cape Town to launch their operations, based in the Philippi Fresh Produce Market, on 2 March 2009. The new foodbank will pool the food relief efforts in Cape Town of (in alphabetical order) Feedback Food Redistribution, Lions Club and the Robin Good Initiative. This will both create immediate economies of scale and allow the distribution of massively increased volumes of food.
We'll add stories and photos about the launch itself as and when we have them. For now we wish success and inspiration to Patrick Andries and his team!
FoodBank Cape Town will be the first of many community foodbanks in the new network FoodBank South Africa. We look forward to sharing many similar stories of new foodbanks in the next year or two.
