New MD for FoodBank SA

E-mail Print
Jeroen de LijsterWe are happy to announce that Jeroen de Lijster has agreed to join us in the capacity of Managing Director of FoodBank South Africa.

Jeroen was appointed after a recruitment process which included wide advertising of the role and a consequent need to filter close to 200 applicants. This process was conducted by a Recruitment Committee appointed by the Members and comprising Crispin Sonn, Alan Gilbertson, Viv Grater and Bishop Malusi Mpumlwana.

Jeroen de Lijster has experience in both the food industry and in developing a small business as founder and MD. He has an honours degree in international business economics from the College of Utrecht in the Netherlands and an MBA from the University of Cape Town.

This development allows Alan Gilbertson to stand down from his role as voluntary acting MD. He will continue to contribute to the network in several ways, including as a participant in the governance of FoodBank SA.

Bishop Malusi Mpumlwana took this opportunity to thank Alan most heartily for all he has given to give this foundational and formative year of FoodBank SA the best shot at success through his leadership as acting MD. His guidance and tireless accompaniment of the board, the member foodbanks and the Executive Forum has laid a firm foundation for Jeroen to build on.
